Types Of Flooring

Hybrid Flooring

A multi layer man made product which has the best qualities of laminate along with the best of vinyl. Hybrid flooring is naturally waterproof, so it can be installed in wet areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and laundries where laminate flooring traditionally cannot. Thanks to its durable textured surface, Hybrid flooring looks and performs like a timber or laminate floor without the drawbacks. Using cutting edge technology, the surface layer of each board is finished with a protective coating embossed with a textured timber grain.

Laminate Flooring

Another multi-layer synthetic flooring product, Laminate is fused together with a lamination process. Laminate flooring simulates wood or sometimes even a stone look it also has the same shape and size as wood planks.

Laminate flooring has grown significantly in popularity, mainly due to its durability and relatively easy to maintain qualities.

Engineered Timber Flooring

With all the elegance, sophistication and style of solid hard wood flooring but the bonus of being much easier wearing. Engineered timber also brags the lack of need to sand and polish unlike solid hardwood however can be if wanted. A combination of hardwood such as Oak with the benefits of the engineered board significantly reduce the risk of cupping and expansion. Engineered timber comes in a range of thicknesses & widths, along with a multitude of colors. No need for nails or glue means that engineered timber floors can be laid directly over any flat surface such as existing tiles. While can be glued for that soil hardwood floor feel also.

Vinyl Flooring

A durable synthetic flooring which comes mainly in tiles or planks. Very popular in kitchens, bathrooms, commercial settings & high traffic areas as it is water, stain-resistant and well priced. Vinyl’s main pro is its water resistant qualities but it also generally does not need an under lay. It is important however to have a very flat sub-floor to give a flat, smooth finish due to thickness of the Vinyl planks.

Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood flooring is the ultimate in luxury design and feel. A true testament to style, longevity and class. Whether laid in a traditional pattern or parquetry it compliments almost any room. Solid hardwood is glued to the subfloor, sanded and polished which ensures its longevity often well beyond our years.

Parquetry

Parquetry, the term used for a patterned floor design which can be a number of different shapes including squares, circles, herringbone and borders. Did you know that you no longer need a solid hardwood floor to create parquetry? That’s right, some Hybrid and engineered floor boards are designed for parquetry. This means that you can get the look and feel of a solid hardwood parquetry floor but with the benefits of engineered timber or Hybrid.
